Winter Hiking by the creek

I arrived at Canoe Creek State Park just in time to watch a short but steady snowstorm from the comfort of my warm car. As the snowflakes slowed, I found a fun trail to travel up and down hills for a bit to get back on track with my plan for hiking. In addition to…

A weekend getaway for some R&R

The Lily Inn, located right in Historic Burlington, New Jersey offered me a cozy room on the top floor with a view of the street below, decorated for the holiday season. With a king-sized bed, jetted tub, and in-room TV that I could connect my Roku Streaming Device to, I felt like I was living in luxury.

Fall Foliage at the PA Grand Canyon & State Park Camping!

Fall is my favorite time of the year to explore hiking trails in hopes to capture some amazing colors. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon has been on my bucket list for a while and I’m so thankful that I made it there right as the leaves were turning.

PA State Park Waterfront Views

Of all the Pennsylvania State Parks I’ve visited in 2021, by far the best ones (in my opinion) have waterfront views, expansive mountains, and calming shores.

Colorado Travels: Standing off with bison

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve returned from my trip to Colorado and the Rocky Mountains but I’m just getting around to writing about the experiences and wanted to share the story of the time I fearlessly approached a bison and survived. My best friend Christina arrived later than expected in Colorado on Sunday, July…

Watkins Glen, walking under waterfalls and being a weekend warrior

Journal entry: Today is going to be about being present and mindful in my experiences, with friends and others around me, to be and feel amazing.  Earlier in the year, I had mentioned to one of my best friends, Jen, about taking a trip to Watkins Glen to see the amazing waterfalls. We decided we’d…

Light at Little Buffalo State Park

Last Sunday, in 11-degree weather, I ventured out solo to Little Buffalo State Park for a winter hiking adventure. Recently I decided to make changes to choices I make by stepping up instead of stepping back. I know that I can handle the cold, and I look forward to being in nature, so there’s no reason…

Inspiration, Meditation, and the joy in being alone at Caledonia State Park

Finding Truth while walking at Wildwood

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.” ― William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar I find that it’s super easy to make excuses and lie to myself in order to justify things, to myself ,that is… I’ve had the discussion with myself, while laying in bed in the early morning, of considering…

Learning to trust at Swatara State Park

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s…

Enjoying the journey at Mill Creek Falls

“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson Today I learned a bit of patience, gratitude, strength, and kindness. All of this while walking in nature. I ventured to Mill Creek Falls, located near River Rd., Airville, PA. The trip took me about an hour to drive there, but just…

Hiking at Tucquan Glen

I decided to celebrate my 30-something birthday with new friends, while climbing up and down hills and valleys, for seven hours, with over a total of 9 miles. I hadn’t anticipated hiking that far, or for that long, and two days later, I’m still feeling that my body wasn’t expecting that either. Regardless, I am…
