Leaping is worth the risk

“We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success.” ― Henry David Thoreau It’s leap day today and I found myself wondering how I’d spend this extra day. Time seems so short, and I’ve found myself busier than ever trying to be productive, yet enjoy life….

New partners and projects: Learning to grow a photo business for success in 2020

By offering a portfolio not just on my website, but also on Adobe Stock, and Shutterstock, I hope to grow my visibility as a stock photographer. I’m also working to align with Creative Market soon to allow stock photography on their platform. So I am making a decision to try to grow a stock portfolio and see what happens over the next year with revenue. Now that I have some more clarity with the direction, and I’ve done some extensive traveling, I have a new body of work to share with the world and that’s exciting!

Annapolis Adventures

A day trip to Annapolis, Maryland offered awareness about the history, exciting challenges of captaining a ship at sea and enjoying delicious food and local beer. Maryland’s capital, Annapolis is located on the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Severn River, 25 miles south of Baltimore and about 30 miles east of Washington D.C….

Artsfest, Day 3

I enjoyed the jazz music today and just relaxed, taking in the moment without documenting it (for the most part), so I didn’t create many photographs, but here are a few. Make sure to check out Artsfest Day 1, and Day 2 photo blogs. Click here for full photo gallery from all three days of…

The Wedding Singer

THE WEDDING SINGER takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. It’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves…

Peace Day Philly 2013, Part 1

Peace Day Philly started two years ago. It was a small, local idea, spurred by a global initiative to celebrate and embrace peace in the world. I was one year old in 1981, when Peace Day was adopted unanimously through a United Nations Resolution. It stated that the day should be devoted to commemorating and…

It was hot in Pittsburgh this week. But that didn’t bother me too much. I was so happy to return to the place I call home, even if it was just for a few days. It’s my home because it’s where I became who I am today. It made me into this person. I’ll give…

While walking around along Main Street in downtown Lititz, I started to photograph a metal sculpture and then saw another one, so I…

Looking at the past, seeing the future

Since I recently hit 10,000 views on this blog, it got me to thinking about how this all started. Why I started to blog, and how I developed my skills over the past two years. It’s been a long journey. I started blogging back in 2010 in another blog, Debra Schell. After a few months…

EnD CrImE, Harrisburg residents cry for peace

Spray-painted on an abandon building are several pleas for crime to end in Harrisburg’s Uptown neighborhood. Recent shootings make it clear that crime isn’t on the decline, but rise. When will it end? The messages are right around the corner from an abandon house with a beautiful painting on its side. Makes me think that…
