Over the years I’ve tried to figure out how to sell my photography. I began thinking about this nine years ago when I opened the shop as a business in 2011. Since then, I’ve dabbled in wedding photography, food photography, commercial photography, portrait photography, landscape and nature photography, architectural photography, artwork exhibition, freelancing for publications, working for clients to provide marketing and promotional photos, and selling stock photography, just to mention a few.

What I’ve learned about myself is that I enjoy creating landscape photos of dynamic views and architectural photography of historic buildings. I don’t enjoy the other parts of photography quite as much and so most of my work in the past few years has been focused on capturing images of the area I currently live in, Central Pennsylvania. I’m happy to announce that I’ll be partnering with some great companies to offer stock photos in hopes to generate more income to support my business going forward.

I’d been back and forth about it in my mind if the time it takes to upload photos is worth it. Some of the image rights seem to suggest that I’ll only make a few cents on an image that took a ton of time to compose, not to mention the experience and education I have developed over years to create the photograph.  By offering a portfolio not just on my website, but also on Adobe Stock, and Shutterstock, I hope to grow my visibility as a stock photographer. I am making a decision to try to grow a stock portfolio and see what happens over the next year with revenue. I’m also working on learning more about affiliate marketing, finding my niche, and getting clarity.

I’m also happy to announce that I’m working with the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg on the artwork for the Convention Center foyer and hallways following their recent renovation. Images will include views of the Harrisburg Capitol building, as well as several bridges and landscapes of the Harrisburg area. More details to come soon as this project is in process, but I hope to announce the completion in the next few weeks and delivery of 10 pieces of large-scale artwork. If all goes well, I also hope to host an “Opening Reception” of some sort in January.

Kicking off 2020 I’ll be looking for venues and generating ideas about a travel-themed photography exhibit. I’m bouncing around ideas and would also consider collaboration with other creators, photographers, or artists. So more details on that forthcoming! ~
