“The immediate expression of our truth releases light and warmth, that influences the life we are part of, this is the way our spirit shines!” – Mark Nepo
I like being productive, having energy, and being focused on purpose, doing the work I love that inspires me. The kind of work that doesn’t feel like work, because it’s just fun. I can be the driver in my ability to take control and change my life. There’s nothing like finishing the day knowing you’ve crossed off all the things you wanted to get done. Sometimes I’ve felt that this “high-energy” that I have is what has made me “unique” as many often remark “You did all that?” or “How do you have the time?” and I just tell people it’s a matter of making the things I love a priority, which I didn’t do for many years.
Friday night, after a long work week, I walked into Gamut Theatre and the energy was contagious. I attended the 4th Annual Improvapalooza event and wanted to create because I felt moved to capture a bit of this energy. I was up till 3 a.m. on Friday night editing photos and posting a video.
Saturday I attended The Hitextravaganza, which featured a 24-hour improv comedy and I joined in for two hours in the middle of it and created some photos and video. I sat with friends, laughed, and was inspired by the energy of the improvisers who’d vowed to make it through the entire 24 hours, and today found a video of them celebrating after the final hour. I returned home that evening, excited for more photo editing and digging into video editing.
“It’s Better to Fail at What You Love Than Fail at What You Don’t.” – Jim Carey
I was up late, editing and posting galleries until about 2 a.m. and then had this feeling of “tired and wired.” Not ready to close my eyes and sleep, I went to Netflix, I came across a documentary with Jim Carey called Jim & Andy.
As I started to listen to this documentary, it lit me up. I was no longer tired; I started journaling the ideas and concepts that brought me to tears. Most of his story is well documented and well-known, but I just couldn’t get enough.
“I asked myself, what do people want? They don’t want to be concerned. So I was going to be the guy who isn’t concerned. I will be that guy who shows them what that’s like.” – Jim Carey
Somehow I found myself wanting to create again, and this time I discovered a video for making a signature logo, which I’d been wanting to do. So I spent another hour creating a new signature for my photo watermarks and website and put it on my photos.
When I awoke this morning, the energy came up again in my reading. It was a quote from the Dalai Lama.
“Today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive. I have a precious human life. I am not going to waste it. I will use all my energies to develop myself and expand my heart out to others as much as I can.”
