Peace Day Philly volunteers asked random people in Rittenhouse Square what they can do to contribute to a more peaceful world. The idea was to get people thinking about Peace Day, on Sept. 21.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
The United Nations International Day of Peace, September 21, provides an opportunity for all humanity to come together, in spirit and in action, for greater peace. This global day is observed by hundreds of millions of citizens in cities, towns and villages worldwide. Thousands of NGOs, as well as citizens and governments, organize and engage in diverse peace-related activities such as peace education, the arts, spirituality, the environment, social justice, community, sport, service, and more.
Peace Day Philly is a local initiative that promotes diverse and meaningful participation across the region in the United Nations International Day of Peace, a worldwide day observed on September 21. Peace Day Philly initiative welcomes Philly area organizations, neighborhoods, community groups, civic leaders and individuals to participate in Peace Day Philly by creating and participating in activities relating to personal, local and/or global peace.
