Shakespeare In the Park
TROILUS AND CRESSIDA directed by Clark Nicholson
… the end crowns all, And that old common arbitrator, Time, Will one day end it.” -Act IV, scene 5 All is unfair in Love and War, as our playwright, William Shakespeare, takes a turn at Western Civilization’s oldest written story. The giants of Homer’s “Iliad” are all here; Hector, Achilles, Priam, Helen, Agamemnon, Paris, but Shakespeare chooses to tell this larger tale through the romance and travails of two of its minor characters, the lovely young Cressida and the handsome Trojan prince, Troilus. Gamut is especially excited to present this little produced Shakespearean tragedy, as we have seen many of these characters in some of our earlier productions, but this will be the first time we have looked at this, our most revered story, through the eyes of our most honored playwright.
