Students at Reid Elementary School participated in Jump Rope for Heart on Friday, Feb. 18. The school raised more than $9,000 for the American Heart Association to support the elimination of heart disease and stroke, said teacher Michael MacDonald, leader of the event. In it’s 10th year, Reid Elementary School has raised more than $100,000 for the association. In 2008, Reid won the Elite School Award for being in the top 15 fundraisers for the Jump Rope For Heart in the capital region.
Over 300 schools participate in the capital region, MacDonald said.
